When planning a holiday to Kenya, it is important to know the best times to visit. The country is actually a good place to be all through the year but choice of a visiting time will greatly depend on an individual. The magical land is actually rich in culture, scenery and most importantly wildlife. It is the latter that attracts more tourists. Holidays in the coastal region are also quite popular as the sandy beaches are quite inviting.
The most comfortable months to visit Kenya are January up to march. This is because the country is dry and warm. It is also a great time to view wildlife as they are mostly going to the water holes to quench their thirst. It is the perfect time for animal enthusiasts and they should therefore not miss out on the great opportunities that are laid for them.
Between April and June and November and December, the tourist numbers dwindle. It is a great time to get an exclusive holiday. It is a rainy season and the vegetations are very green and inviting. It is a good time for the people who love taking in the scenery.
Ever heard of the annual wildebeest migration? It usually takes place between July and September. It is a spectacle that takes place in two national parks: Kenya’s Masai Mara, and Tanzania’s Serengeti. The migration has taken the tourism sector by storm and many people are actually travelling to the east African region to get a peek at the migration.
Tipping in the hotels is quite a common practice. The normal tipping range is between 10% and 15%. Tipping is actually a custom in Kenya. Guidelines during game drives are some ksh500 for every drive.
If you are travelling from the UK, you may not need a certificate for yellow fever unless you went through endemic destinations. However, it is always good to check on the requirements before making any arrangements. You may also need to find out about all the vaccinations that you might need to take. For malaria, you may need a vaccination some 8 weeks before you leave for Kenya so do not be delayed.
When travelling to Kenya for a holiday, it is very advisable that you don’t carry heavy cases. Invest in the low weight kind. If your first stop is not Nairobi, you may have a connecting flight at the Wilson airport so as to start off your holiday. Every person is allowed some 15kg in luggage. This includes both the hold and hand luggage. For excess, you may need to dig deeper into your pockets.
